What's So Bad About That?

[sigh] Apparently it's STILL taboo in our society to voice an opinion that differs in any way whatsoever from 'the party line'. Apparently Maggie Gyllenhaal is being 'blasted' by critics for saying such horrible things as:

"[Sept. 11 was] an occasion to be brave enough to ask some serious questions about America's role in the world. Because it is always useful as individuals or nations to ask how we may have knowingly or unknowingly contributed to this conflict. Not to have the courage to ask these questions of ourselves is to betray the victims of 9/11."

Good for her! I'm so sick and tired of this rhetoric that to question our leaders is somehow unpatriotic or 'siding with the terrorists'. It's been almost 4 years. When are we allowed to start talking and having open debate again?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this country sort of founded on dissent? On the idea that it was our RIGHT and DUTY as citizens to question our leaders when they were not representing the common good?

You go, Maggie, and don't let them tell you you're unpatriotic or a traitor for believing in accountability and reason.

Hey, Let's Watch Stephanie Feed The Capitalist, Oppressive Monster

Yep, we got annual passes to Disneyland. The loophole in my philosophy against large multi-national giants that are taking over everything. I can't seem to help it. Things are just so cute, and I'm like a giddy 9-year-old, hopped up on sugar and visiting the Magic Kingdom for the first time, every time I go there.

I's Winnie the Pooh's fault, really. If he wasn't so damn cute, I might stand a chance resisting their wicked ways.

Hmm....nope. I'd still lose.

I.Am.So.Weak.

Animal Kingdom Outside My Window

All of us in Marketing are in this one office, subdivided into cubicles. One wall of the room that five of us are up against is windows, almost floor to ceiling, that look out onto this area of plants and trees. So I basically have this front-row seat to nature.

I love watching the birds and bunnies each day. Seriously, this is like a job perk. Bunnies, bunnies, all the time. And then today I saw a duck. Dude, are ya lost? There's no water anywhere near here! Oooh, a bunny just hopped by my window. I love this!

One of these days I'll try to get a picture of the bunnies outside my window, or the bunny family that I pass snacking on the grass each day when I'm leaving, around 5:15 [they're snacking, in case you thought I'd taken to grazing]. Did you catch that, by the way? I'm leaving work around 5:15, people; I'm leaving work when it's still LIGHT out, can you believe that?!

Wow, kinda a random post, huh?

I Am The Ant-Eater

I was once a mighty Warrior. Now I am an Ant-eater.

Warriors: strong, striking fear, scary

Anteaters: eat ants, kinda ungainly, big noses

Is someone trying to tell me something?

Yes, I'm now a hobo blogger. I have almost no downtime at work to blog, and when I get home I don't want to be on the computer, so until my schedule evens out, posts will be sparse. I hope that doesn't mean my readers will all disappear!
